Algae
Algae are a sustainable alternative for agricultural crops. Potentially 100.000 liters of biodiesel per hectare can be produced. For comparison: the best yielding crop at the moment is Palm and this is producing approx. 5000 liters biodiesel per year.
As one of the founders of Algea Food & Fuel, Solarix is currently building the first set of Algae reactors in the Netherlands. Based on the results of this project we are developing plug and play technologies for the automatic continuous growing and harvesting of algae.
